I'm a Fish!
Just wondering if anyone knows what kind of oil is in a pressure guage? Also do depth guages have any? Thanks

Usually mineral oil I think.

I just noticed after my last dive that whatever was in my pressure gauge before appears to have leaked out. The gauge still seems to work, but...that's weird.

I'm pretty sure none of my SPGs are oil filled - just air. The stuff leaking out of one of my dead depth gauges looks, smells, and feels like mineral oil.

SPGs are NOT oil filled, many other pressure gauges and depth gauges (which are pressure gauges calibrated in FSW rather than PSI) are.

most oil filled guages are filled with glycerin. It is typically used to help reduce the bounce in the needle in certain applications.

My old aladin pro was filled with mineral oil, made a damn big mess when I opened it after it died (sometime you just HAVE to know what's inside)

Sorry double post
