What is this resting in the coral bed

I am not sure exactly what you are trying to point out in the pictures, but I think you are looking at the head of a Sharpnose Puffer, with the tail hidden by the coral. I think the very dark spot is something different on the coral.

OK, I see what you are asking about. It appears to have an eye that pops up out of the head like a frogfish. The body looks smooth and none of the frogfish in my book have a smooth body.

Maybe someone else will chime in. We have some professional biologists on the forum.
