I used the 3M product that Reefphoto sent with the optical cable to attach it to the housing.
Every time I went to shoot, the cable was dangling in the water.
Perhaps I am a total clutz and often knocked it loose, but seems it shouldn't come off so easily.
I know that more than once the current blew it off the housing. Is this common?

I'd love suggestions as to what I might be doing wrong or suggestions to make it stay in place.

Thanks!

I share your frustration with that 3M "Dual lock" product. I've had problems with it as well. If you are asking about the adhesive backing side not sticking to the housing, try cleaning the area with isopropyl alcohol. The interlocking side “snaps” together and should form a secure attachment. Perhaps there is too much strain on the cable. Other than the cable coming loose, is the flash working properly? Can you provide additional details of your setup?

I have the Canon WP-DC38 housing and the Inon S2000 strobe.
The adhesive backing sticks to the housing fine. It is the two pieces of dual-lock that don't stick to each other.
Currents pull it apart. I pull it apart. It was always apart!

Frustrated and need to amend the issue.

I have the same strobe but it's mounted on an Ikelite case. I noticed that the "locking" feature of the dual lock has reduced in the last several dive trips so much so that I would have to constantly reconnect the mating ends during the dive. But, it did stay connected when I first installed it 2 1/2 years ago. Perhaps yours is defective. I suggest contacting reefphoto for suggestions. They were helpful to me in June when the cable attachment to the strobe broke off and I needed advice on a field repair. I'm sure you've seen this from their website. Plastic Tie Wrap that puppy in place. I got so frustrated with the darn thing falling off I finally just tie wrapped it in place. Works great.
