After 570is, there are a couple of face lift cameras in the market.

As I recall, any "A" series don't have a "RAW" feature yet.

Do you have any idea what next Canon camera will be?

Any rumor floating around in the camera industry?

Thanks in advance,

Your question does not make any sense, Canon makes a plethora of cameras. The replacement for the 570IS is the 590IS.

You don't need RAW in this class camera.

There are no housings for the 590 and Canon has not said they will provide one - ever.

The A720 and A650 are both comparable to the A570 and A590. Both have underwater housings from Canon. A720 is the most direct comparison to the 570 and 590, and the 650 is the newest in the lineup. Both the 720 and 650 have underwater scene and WB settings, if that's important to you. Full manual control is probably the bigger argument for going with the A series.

And, through the CHDK add-on, you can shoot raw if you want to.

There's always the G9 (or CHDK hacked G7 ?) if you want small size, manual control and RAW.

FiremanGreg, as far as I know the CHDK-Hack for the A720 is not available yet.

The 'AllBest' build (both 37 and 50) is available for the 720. I also have it loaded on my 650. Fantastic!

Why not "Raw"?

As an average Joe and P/S diver, I would like to have a raw feature in the cheapy camera. :)

I don't intend to be a professional guru with a lot of fancy accessories. However, after having limited experience on P/S camera, a "Raw" feature is a great one, even for P/S. Maybe, it is because I can access to full version CS at the office.

After 570is, I thought all successors after 570is are just face lift with a couple of tweak (memory, resolution, Optical, etc.....)

What is CHDK add-on?

Please educate me... It is another SW download?

See the stickey at the top of this forum, I put the hack on my 570 and took some pictures last night in RAW and it's really handy for editing, I also downloaded the ( free ) Picassa editing software and recomend you try that as well.

Oh... Thanks... I must miss it....

There's always the G9 (or CHDK hacked G7 ?) if you want small size, manual control and RAW.

The G9 is a poor underwater choice because it's extra long zoom lens and funky port make the use of wet mount lenses impossible. The G9 is therefore only an expensive macro and snapshot camera.
