Thanks Graham! Thats so cool. I always thought that clams were stationary animals.

After thought to my original post:When I first saw it I thought that it looked like a pillow my Grandmother would have on the couch...lol...After making my find I swam on and on the way back I couldn't find it....but that doesn't really mean anything...the ocean is big.
Aloha Lisa

I wrote to my pen pal at the bishop museum and he wrote me back:
"I think this is an umbrella shell - an opisthobranch - although I've only heard of them and never seen one. The green is overgrowth on its shell, the white warty part is its body. The ribbon indeed looks like eggs, but whether they belong to it or some other mollusk is unclear."

I was way off.
I actually saw something like that in the April issue of Dive Training. The magazine says they are nudi eggs - like Dee mentioned earlier. In the picture they show is like a rose petal on a reef. The one in your image appears to be the same composition but shaped a little differently.
Did they look kinda like these???

Hi Boney, thanks for looking. The texture is about the same but the formation is different. My pen pal at the museum says it can be the eggs of the umbrella shell as it is also from the mollusc family
Here are a couple of other egg ribbons that I have found here.

yup....exactly what it looks like...just what flavor would it be???

From the photos, I'd say Cherry, Lemon and Blueberry! :D

Wow. How cool is that? That link Leesa posted shows a photo of that it looks like, eggs from Umbraculum . You people are so schmart. I never ever would have guessed nudi eggs.
