We were in Roatan over a month ago now and while diving we saw these round things in several locations. They looked like big marbles. Varied in size from maybe golf ball to billiard ball size. Assuming they may be eggs, but, any thoughts from someone in the know?

These?

Soft and free swimming

Or more likely, this:

Hard and lodged into something

I am horrible at names. Commonly called "Sea Pearls", they are the largest single celled plant in the oceans. You see them all over the place, they glisten like greenish glass balls. The biggest I had ever seen was maybe 2". (fuzzy recollections)

Called bubble algae in the marine aquarium hobby.

RoatanMan,
I pick number two of your photos. That's exactly what I saw. I did check out the Marine- what is it - forum after I posted here and found a similar question asked with similar responses.

Thanks

Okay then, the last one was easy.

How about this oft seen thing?

Buehler? Anyone? :rofl3:

I thought they were pancakes, now Will says they are sand cakes :)

Some learned fish told me that it is worm poop.

Kinda rolls of your tongue, doesn't it? Worm Poop.

Ooh. That's an icky turn of the phrase.
