HI,

So was her dive a good one? Read some news of earthquake in that region. Wonder if they are affected?

No tsunami with this last earthquake. There, evidently, was no land displacement this time.

Heard the diving was great. Haven't seen pictures yet. She is still in Calif. on her way back. I haven't talked face to face yet.

Allison - Great to hear. We leave Monday for the Solomons (Bilikiki), and I am all but useless this week at work!!!

Allison Finch:
What area are your friends heading for? I have spent a lot of time on New Ireland and New Britain Islands (with time in the Witu Islands). All of these areas have great sharks, HUGE schools of trevally and 'cudas, and hand feeding wild turtles. George, the biggest 'cuda around will come up and all but rub noses with you (in a "friendly" way). Let us know your location.

hi catherine and all you great divers.. does anyone have any information on how the recent may 4.14th trip to papua new guinea on the boat star dancer went for cathy church and her group. heard about the volcanoes and quakes.. poor planning or just bad luck but hope they all survived the trip.. any info on how the trip went, if they were able to get out ok and any news effects on the diving would be helpful.. hope it did not hurt anyone diving there or really mess up the diving.. i think the cathy church group is scheduled to go back there later in the year also if their losses do not turn out to be too great.. they are still trying to recover from all the hurricanes last year the last i heard and even had to cancel cathy's C's normal photo courses.. I was there last year and they could not even afford to feed the staff dinner during the photo course from what i was told.. a real sshame./. I did hear they are trying to open a new photo shop for her hubby HERB... wow, did i hear lots from and about that while i was in cayman.. let's all do our best to suppport such a great photo person as cathy till things improve for divers everwhere...

WOW, hi vetdiver.. lucky you,,, hope all is great for your trip.. let us know how it is there after the recent trip on the bilikiki that the cathy church photo dive group was supposed to make.. i did not hear if they had to cancel for lack of attendance or not.. there have been no new updates to the cathy church website thai i can find and this is not promising .. she normally does not fail to tell how wonderful a trip was.. on her website.. especially if it was good.. there is a blurb there on what a great trip there was over a year or so ago.. hope they can find something good to update the website with.. i do have a great HTML copy of her christmas page.. it even listed all the staff in a pretty icky green.just my own opinion on that uckk shade of green. .i look at it occasionally just to remember how much i dislikes seeing the staff listed in that color.. eewwwwwww... thanks for any update or info you can provide during or after you trip to blilikiki.. which boat ya taking... hehe.

Haven't heard about Cathy Church's trip in PNG. Being around active volcanos in PNG is not unusual. My last trip had us staying in Rabaul with its active volcano. Ash covered our boat every day. Brought home a bunch of pumice stones. Every night had a bright firey display. Hmmmm this WAS the same one that destroyed the town in the 30's. Hmmmm........
