w-t-f is an 82 old person doing diving who has "just been cleared" for diving? (makes it sound like she was a "new diver"). That's a pretty big step for someone that age.
On the other hand, you gotta give some credit to someone who is 82 and is still out there being active and doing something they want to do.
Thank goodness she's OK. Sounds like the boat crew reacted properly.
I've been out on Down Unders boat one time and I have to say that I was impressed with their safety. They did several good things saftey wise, including "tags" for each diver, roll call directly after the dive, and "triple head counts" of divers against the manifest. We had two divers come up down current from the tag line and ended up close to a mile downstream by the time we recovered all the other divers and could pull anchor. The captain stayed on watch for them on the upper deck with binoculars and constantly on the radio warning other boat traffic that he had two divers floating down current from them on the surface and asking boaters to be cautious.
