What book(s) do I need to get started in at least learning about rebuilding my regs?

I have Aqua Lung regs..

Isn't there a book available?

And then, what does one need in TOOLS (a list) to do this:

??

All Reg companies run service courses for the products, why not get in touch with AquaLung and see when they are next running a course in your area.

Then you are qualified to service them and might even make some money on the side.
Cheers
Chris

Chris,
Does one have to be affiliated with a LDS to get into a course like this?

Generally you have to be in employment with a dive shop in order to take the service course for a manufactures regulator..You don't have to be a genius to do it most places will not sell you service kits. i'm a tech for most brands out there but primarily work on scuba pro's and there is a whole mess of tools you need. You won't get into to make money :) but it sure is nice to know what makes em tick! Good luck

Vance Harlow has a manual on regulator maintenance & repair.
This link and about $50.00 will get you a copy. It will cover about everything you need to know and then some.

He posts occassionally on this site as oxyhacker. He covers the whole gamut of regs and much more and addresses parts and tools. Parts were the long pole in the tent for me. Thankfully, ScubaPro has a number of cracks in their fortress. Another poster on this site, stone, has a web site adressing tool sources. I recommend you start with the book and decide where you want to go from there.

Why not talk ot your LDS and see if they can put on on the course.

I know a few LDS around me will do this then offer your services to service Regs on a few weekends for them.
