It cracks me up that Cathy Church is labeled a "Junior Member" in the Photography Forum.

I know it's based on # of posts, but come on!!!

Umm, she is not a junior member in the photography forums, she is a junior member on SB. It has nothing to do with anything other than # posts, and it is controlled by the site software, not a committee! :D

Purchasing things as a package deal can save you some bucks.

The Ikelite strobes are really nice with their housings. The TTL works very well, or at least does on my D200 housing.

The Ikelite arms are not quite as sexy as the Ultralite arms, but they do a good job. Honestly, I don't notice much difference UW. Topside, the Ultralight are just that, light. But still the Ike is alum, so not a huge amount of difference. Honestly having used both systems, they are more alike than different.

Alum housings are sexy as well. The Ike housings are large square plexiglass chunks, and IMO the controls are not as well designed as in the more expensive alum housings. However the IKE housings work well, and are a lot less expensive.

If I was shooting weekly UW, I'd dedicate more money to high end UW gear. As I shoot UW yearly, it's a much less important factor, and what I've already spent is enough.

If you want a good housing/strobe package on a budget Ike is hard to beat. If you have the bucks, there are some really nice stuff out there, but it is generally at least 2X the cost when you factor in ports, viewfinders, sync cables, etc.

Unfortunately none of it is cheap, especially when you start discussing DSLR's.
