I am looking at replacing my wrap around Bc which is an sherwood 2004 AVid BC .
I just bought me a DUI TLS350 dry suit so looking at diffrent set up.
hears what I am thinking.
Dive Rite TransPac Harness
Dive rite rec winks
dive rite weight pockets transweight
so give me the Pro and cons :
I sure some are going to tell me who is better ect so just be honest please.

I dive a transpack & a BP with a 1 piece webbing harness. The transpack is more comfortable when lugging your gear around on land. Once in the water though the comfort thing evens out & the BP is in it's element. I still use my transpack for travel. As I don't yet have a dry suit, I still use the transpack when diving wet with doubles as I'm overweighed with the BP (I know, my bad). In short the transpack is a good piece of kit that will do anything you may want to do. It may not trim out as well as a BP but a few trim weights here & there will fix that.

I have a DR trek wing. Like the rec. wing it's bungied, no no that's not right, it's a GCS (gusset control system), that's the bungi your having when your not having a bungi. I dislike & would never recommend any of the duel purpose single/double DR wings. After stuffing around with such a wing for far too long I now use the correct size wing for singles & another for doubles & life is much better.

I also have the 16lb DR weight pockets. They work, but they're not my favourite piece of kit either. I'v gone back to a weight belt.

The Transpac will do anything you need it to do.

I use my (alumi) Transplate/Venture wing single tank diving skin, full 5mm or drysuit. It is extremely lightweight and streamlined and the Trans harness has a tremendous degree of adjustability (I started with a hog but it was a pain to adjust between skin and dry). Highly reccomend.

I am a very happy Transpac/Recwing user. It's very comfortable and can even take small doubles nicely. I use it with 15l steeltank. I bought the weight pockets but only used them a couple of times. Thought they were in the wrong place for me all the time and uncomfortable, so I decided to leave them and have all my weight in my belt. I'm sure you'll ejoy your dives with Transpac/Recwing.

I wonder what you mean by small doubles? I use doubled Faber steel 12.2lt x 232 bar (HP 100cf) tanks with my transpack all the time. It's never put any undue stress on the harness. I'v seen someone use doubled steel 15lt x 232 bar (HP 120cf) tanks as well.

What do you think of Dive Rite TransPac Harness?

Yes, it can certainly do anything you can do with a "real" BP/W...

...but to me it seems to maintain many of the drawbacks of a regular BCD while lacking one of the key advantages of a BP/W set up.

Clips and buckles and d-rings, oh my...

Simplicity...

I dove a Rec Wing for a while. Bought it because "it works with singles or doubles" except it wasn't really good for either. Too much for a single 119cf tank (taco) and not enough for double 119cf tanks.

I dive the trans pack and I'm happy with it. If I knew then what I know now, I'd probably go with the Trans Plate with a single tank adapter though. I too bought it because it could dive single or double or side mount, but I dive wet and with aluminum tanks so I find myself with 24 - 26 lbs. of lead, and that combined with the relative floppiness of the Trans Pac makes surface walks feel like your morbidly obesce. For me I think that a back plate and steel tanks to reduce lead would be more comfortable. Additionally, I plan to double my Al 80s and that means I'll likely add 3-4 more pounds to the rig, and that adds up to a butt-load of lead!

Between work and recreational dives I dive a BP/wing set up with doubles, a navy surface supply rig (the prior all dry), and a dive rite trans pac, both wet and dry.
If you're diving the transpac with a single, the travel wing or venture wing will likely be enough lift for you, with the 16 lb (total) weight system.
I still would not go bigger than the venture wing on a single with a drysuit, even with the bigger (32 lb total) weight system.
I think the trans pac is the way to go with singles. Its what I dive recreationally with singles.
On the other hand, if I were diving both doubles and singles and only could have one BC device, I'd go with a SS BP/W and a STA, to me a trans pac is a better single tank solution but not as good with doubles. There's so much stuff going on with doubles I just don't want plastic buckles, shoulder pads, etc, and I want the added weight, strength, and stability of a SS backplate.
So -
If you are a single tank diver go with the trans pac.

What does the Transpac provide for singles that a simple Hog rig doesn't?
