So have a couple of very traveled diving friends coming to visit. They have done BC, AK on the Nautilus. They have two days free, looking for the best shore or charter dives. (Guest will be staying downtown Seattle and need to return there in evenings)

Charter or Shore, where would you take those who have "been there, dove that" but would never say that out loud????

Well, it all depends on the tides when they're here. We have some excellent dives that are accessible from shore (Day Island Wall, and Keystone Jetty, to name a couple) if the currents are favorable. If it's a period with high exchanges, diving from a boat would be a much better option. Unfortunately, there really isn't any charter that leaves from anywhere close to downtown Seattle. The Bandito boats, which are popular and very nice charters, leave from Tacoma. Porthole, which is a six pack and trailered, so it has more options in departures, runs to a variety of sites and will run on weekdays, and might be the best bet.

If you're taking them around or if they have a car it's hard to beat a charter out of Anacortes for the San Juan's. They would still return to Seattle by evening.

Another vote for doing the Bandito charter out of Anacortes. We were out with them Sunday and had a great couple of dives. If you were up for another dive after the charter, you could drop by Bruce Higgins (Endmonds Under Water Park) on the way back to Seattle.
