After trying out several different models of cameras (Nikon, Canon, Olympus) I decided to join the (dark side) Canon family and bought a new Canon EOS 5D Mark III DSLR camera! I love it and since I plan to shoot 50/50 video and still photos underwater it made more sense and the user friendliness of the Canon was attractive to me over the Nikon and Olympus cameras for a newbie. Ok so all is good except I need help finding a type of CF card that works with the camera! I have an SD card and it works in the SD slot but tonight when I tried to use a new Kingston 16Gb 600X CF card, the camera failed to read or format the card! I would appreciate any help from Canon users here on what type of CF card is compatible with the Canon 5D Mark III camera.

Any Class 10 card will work. I'm not sure why your 16Gb card wouldn't read. I've got a couple of Kingston 16Gb cards for my 5D as well as a 32 which pretty much stays in there all the time unless I'm on vacation and fill it up.

Cool figured out what was wrong. Turns out my Canon 5D Mark III had a bent pin in the CF card slot. I returned the camera for a new one and the CF card works.
