In my search for a BC someone has contacted via email about a brand called Sea Elite. I can honestly say I've haven't heard a lot on them at this site, or even knew that brand existed. What can anyone tell me about this brand, I thought it was a least worth asking SB the question.

Sea Elite is Divers Supply house brand - different items are made by actual different manufacturers.

I have a Sea Elite BC that I picked up cheap (~200 new) that I can use for a year or two for me to use as I build experience and get the money to get nicer gear that's more suited for my diving.

It has been a great purchase. I have the Profile back inflate jacket and it fits very nicely, trims nicely and works exactly as it's suppose to. I honestly have no complaints on it at this point. All my dives have been in cold fresh water, it won't see salt water until late next month.

In the interest of full disclosure, I am a store manager for Divers Supply. First, Sea Elite BCD's are most often produced in the very same factories that many very well known manufacturers use to build out their BCD's so you are assured the same level of quality. Secondly, Sea Elite BCD's are designed to provide you the same modern performance and features available in the other major manufacturers most popular designs. We have the popular Stealth back inflate BCD similar to a very famous Sea Quest design and a great Hybrid (the Profile that someone else here mentioned) similar to a Mares or Aeris Hybrid design that has been very popular. Whatever design you desire or level of performance you want, there is a Sea Elite BCD to meet your needs. The only major difference between the Major manufacturers BCD's and the Sea Elite options is price, with what you will pay for a Sea Elite BCD vs. a Major Mfg's you can buy two Sea Elite BCD's and you will receive the same warranty backing from Sea Elite that you will from any other manufacturer. If you have more questions please PM me or feel free to call me at my location at 770-419-1976 and I hope this helps in your purchasing decision.

Sincerely Divers Supply Marietta, GA. Manager Jack Schmidt

There's nothing wrong with the Sea Elite brand or their BC's.

As the others said, it's the "store brand" for Divers Supply and they are similar to other brand BC's out there.

I've had 2 Sea Elite BC's and have no major complaints about them. Considering what some of the big name manufacturers charge for their BC's, the Sea Elite brand is a good deal. If I had to buy another one, I'd consider them again.

Ditto That, the same BC as many "majors" at a great price.

I have 2 of thier Tek-X regs. The second stage appears to be identical to the Aqua Lung Legend. The 1st stage is used by many brands, and is eerily similar to the ATX200. The 1st/2nd stage is identical to the new Salvo SRX/SR3. All in all, you get a balanced, environmentally sealed diaphragm first stage that routes well w/ doubles, and an air-balanced, adjustable second stage for a really good price, especially when compared to SP or Apeks. I live in Charlotte so I have a Diver's Supply shop here so I get great service to boot. They have been great regs, I've had them down to 160' and as cold as 43 degrees w/ no issues. I've been happy w/ the brand.

I thought it looked the same as the AL Legend also,,, but...
No...It's not... (hate to tell you that...) However it's not a bad regulator.

their Tek X first stage is made by Ocean Divers Supply LTD limited in Tawaiin
OCEAN DIVERS SUPPLY CO.,LTD.

The Tek X uses the Ocean Divers RG-1009 1st stage. it's not Apex.

Salvo that you mention below OEM's their components through the same manufacturers. So do several other companies such as Dive Rite, Scubamax, etc.

nothing wrong with these regulators though. You'll find they are solid performers. But they're not Apex.

I know the first stage is not Apeks, just looks a lot like it. I wouldn't be surprised if Ocean Divers copied that design. And the second stage just looks too familiar to the legend, especially the bezel around the diaphragm and the venturi assist. Look at the two:

Aqua Lung: First to Dive
Great deal on SEA ELITE TEK X06 REGULATOR from Divers-Supply.com

I gotta think some parts are shared. Doesn't really make a difference, just an observation. Great regs either way. And a cool thing about them is that any time the reg is redesigned, you can trade your in for $99, no questions asked. Even if yours is just ratty and you want a new one, $99.

I've got something somewhere that tells me what that 2nd stage is. It does look like the legend though. (but then again, copy what is successfull).

Their replacement fee is $150, not $99, but still a heck of a deal. Especially when they'll give you a $100 credit on any old regulator when you buy it in the first place as a trade in. Can't go wrong with that.
