My wife and I use the Stahlsac mesh bags.

Plenty of room for a full kit, plus some.

We always stuff one or two large plastic garbage bags in the pocket to use as our "dry bags".

The back pack type mesh bags make it very easy to get one's gear up the ramp and onto the boat. The compact size of the bag, when empty, makes life much more enjoyable for all aboard the boat.

Mesh bags also allow the gear to dry out a bit on the ride back to shore.

I should add that inside the mesh bag I mentioned, I put a couple of 1- or 2-gallon ziplock and a tupperware to keep some items dry.

I use my free Aeris mesh bag that came with my regs and BC. Seems to be just about right for all the above reasons. Ditto the ziplocks BubbleFree mentioned.

We use Blue Reef Dive Flag Mesh Backpack because the fins slide neatly in the sides and the bag fits on your back really well. The bottom is mesh so it drains well, plus it has a couple of exterior pockets. The bag fits under the benches full or folds completely flat when empty.

And here I thought this was a discussion about SOs. :D

I bring my Zeagle bag with me. Very easy to carry and the mesh sides allow drainage. After the dive, I drop the ENTIRE bag into the dunk tank. I let it soak for a minute and then I hoist it out. Obviously, I keep all water sensitive items out of that bag. :D

Great minds think alike(see above--post #3...lol)...much easier when doing a week of diving @ a resort, etc.......

Hey all, I'm a newbie to diving and so far have only been at local quarry's. I'll be down in West Palm Beach soon and plan on doing some boat dives when I'm there. My question is I've been using this bag to carry around my gear but is it to big for a boat? When I take my gear out the bag can fold up pretty small since it's made of a canvas material and I don't plan on taking all kinds of extra junk on the boat. Would I be the only newbie with a duffel bag? should I get a mesh bag? Thanks.

To answer your question, the bag you're interested in is not too big for the boat. I've dived from several WPB boats, and all of them had plenty of room under the bench where you'll be sitting on the way out to the dive sites. On the dives I've been on, I've seen duffel bags, mesh bags, and milk crates.

I would also recommend you bring a separate dry bag for your towels and anything else you want to keep dry.

Finally, check out Loggerhead Charters in Boynton Beach (just south of WPB). Let them know you are a newbie, and they'll treat you right. When you've finished your dives, which will be awesome, don't forget to tip the crew on whatever boat you chose for your dives.

The Zeagle bag is squarish with back pack straps and is PERFECT for dashing through airports and such. I don't like duffel bags much anymore! :D

I just fold up my mesh duffel bag in the suitcase for traveling and load it when we get to the resort.......Makes for quick daily cleaning---2 or 3 dunks in the freshwater tank @ the end of a day's diving, hang it up to drain & am ready for the next day's diving....very quick.....

I have Oceanic's mesh duffle and my husband has one made by Zeagle. Previously, I used a heavy canvas type bag but switched to the mesh because of the drainage.
