Not a crew that's paying you to take them out, but one that's actually out there to film you. Also one not hired by you either.
AKA: Without going into too many details, I might be in an episode of a new documentary series!

If I'm not mistaken, according to the rules, anyone who isn't a paying customer, is classified as crew.

So...am I allowed to have a small film crew shooting on the boat, in addition to customers and crew?
Or does each member of the film crew mean one less customer or crew member I can have aboard?

They are called "persons in addition to crew". They are not counted as either. You'd better be able to prove you meet stability requirements for the total number of folks onboard, and you'd better have your logbook manifested correctly. For instance, if you take you, your deckhand, and your six passengers out for a day sail, you're covered. Add in a film crew of 27 people on a 26 foot sailboat and get boarded by the coast guard, you got some 'splaining to do, Lucy.

Thanks!

Add a crew of 27 on a 34 foot sailboat, and they can film me at the dock, thank you.

Are you gonna get Mike Rowe as the narrator?........."5 mile to the south Grouchy Turtle runs across the Swedish Bikini Team in a row boat......."
Can't wait to see this on the Discovery Channel!!!!!

Hmm...great ideas. I'll have to throw all these suggestion out there, the next time I talk to the casting director. Fortunately looks like it's only going to be a 3-4 person film crew.
