What are all these agencies?

New to SB. I see a listing of about 15 agencies -- all provide certification for divers? -- but I do not see PADI listed. Why? I thought it was the biggest, most widely used certification agency.

You do not bother saying what list you are looking at? There are many more than 15 agencies but PADI is the largest.

All of the agencies on SB (listed here: Q and A for Scuba Certification Agencies) provide certifications. Some of them, such as NACD or NSS-CDS are niche markets and provide only specific certifications (cave training).

The agencies who participate here do so by choice and they have representatives who monitor their specific sub-forums to answer questions. There are several large agencies such as PADI, NAUI and IANTD who choose not to participate in online forums for their own reasons.
