The green cap, hose protector and ring on the 1st stage purge might indicate Nitrox compatibility.

It's not just the reg set, it's also a BC and gauge console.

Even with the BCD that unless it is under 5 years old is still probably too much IMHO. As some folks have noted there are some good deals out there. Good luck with it all.

I looked at it in person and the green hose ring said "use with enriched air only." This may be a novice question but why couldn't you use air in it? (oh, and the owner said he'd only used air with it)

At one point in time the mfg felt that regs had to either Nitrox only or air only. If Nitrox only "special" o-rings had to be used along with other tom-foolery, lest yer gonna die (or blow up the world). Today, mfg say that regs are good for air and/or nitrox (up to 40%).

You cannot get this serviced in Augusta. Columbia SC would be the closest. If you haven't bought it I would probably pass on it. I've seen better deals on Ebay for used. Also, the local Iwanta has scuba stuff at times.

Thanx for the input guys. Whether folley or not, I went ahead and got it for my dad. I might look around and see if there's a better 2nd stage to upgrade him to later on but the bc and gauges were what he was looking for and it was all in really nice condition.

Well done.
Nitrox Aquarius 1997 same as Calypso.
Second stages are fine. Easy cheap to service.
Octopus about 2003.
Very good.
We like pics here. Where's the gauges and bc.
It's called reciprosity and provides information for others.

And by pics I don't mean of your hand and a knob or ones that push the info out of the monitor.

That looks like the "new" Aquarius that was marketed in the '90s and maybe a bit later. I have 7 of the older Aquarius regs that were made in the '70s and I love them. The Aquarius is a simple, tough, reliable, and easily serviced regulator. It has a reputation for being bulletproof and utterly dependable. Only one moving part. Rebuild kit consists almost entirely of O-rings. Complete overhaul takes about an hour.

Who in the world pays $100 to $125 for reg servicing? Although I usually service my regs myself, on the rare occasions that I have had it done by a tech, I have never spent anything like that much. Last month, I had an old Conshelf XII, with SPG, serviced at my LDS. A complete kit for the first stage, including HP seat, and kit for the second stage. Total bill was $40.

Thanx guys, glad I ended up with a decent reg!
