I went through a lot of masks trying to find one that fits.

As a result, I've got a dozen masks of various types from various manufacturers that I have no use for.

I'm wondering if it would be feasible to have a travelling ScubaBoard mask inventory that folks could use to try out, and then pass on the the next Scuba Board person who needs to try on a bunch of different masks.

Would it be useful? Would it work? If so, how?

I'd expect it would be limited to members here in the US, because international shipping is expensive.

I figure that the person who wants the masks pays for the shipping, then keeps the masks until the next person wants them.

We could have a sticky post that identifies who the current custodian of the masks is, what models of masks are in the inventory, and allow members to contribute masks to the inventory if they'd like.

One issue I see is that this would likely be most useful to newbies, who are unlikely to have a long history on ScubaBoard, so we run the risk of some nefarious jerk just showing up, making an account and stealing all the masks to sell them on ebay.

It this worth doing?

Besides the theft risk I know I don't have room to store them till next person.

A lot of people here have already gone through this process.

A lot of newer divers are young and therefore likely don't really have space to store them.

I think the theory is nice but practicality won't work.

Yes that is a fantastic idea, I've got a couple of dozenish masks, for the
Australian chapter, of the mask collectors collective try on organisation

Then I could move them on in one carefree lot instead of having to deal
with the selection of dumb people, that pop up, when you try to sell stuff

Did I tell you about the last guy I don't know never met and never will meet
sent me cash in an envelope, short changed me five bucks, told me he'd buy
me a coffee, when we meet, that I sold a mask to, well he wasn't to know that
I don't drink coffee

Mostly brand new in the box, never wet, I'm about to move so the tip it is
and the regs, that went into the car to the tip today, was quite horrendous
Really the weight of the brass almost gave me a hernia had to split them up.

Boxes of fins are next, only about twenty pairs though as the world continues.

Yeah a fantastic idea I like it

Our local club had a “give and take” table when we met in person. I just unloaded a huge load before beginning of meeting and by time it was all over, there was only a pair of new, but XS fins left. Given COVID stopped in person meetings, I would try taking to my favorite scuba beach and set up a give table there, where lots of divers are suiting up in parking lot.
Maybe in late spring!
