The Wife and I want to go away in October. We have been to numerous destanations across the globe but we have never seen a Whale Shark. Does anyone have any sure bet ideas for seeing them in October. Let me know, Thank you in advance

Hi, you could try Utila (off of Honduras). One website says the best months for whalesharks are March to May and August to October.
The other well-known location is Ningaloo, western Australia, but their whaleshark months are March to July.
Good luck and Happy Diving!

Late Mar-early Jun is whale shark migration season in BZE, more specifically the Gladden Cut/Spit area off Placencia. It is unlikely that a whale shark would be seen anywhere in BZE in Aug (or Oct).

Moreover, Placencia is not within reach of a day boat trip out of Hamanasi http://www.sodadivers.com/2006trips.html.

Can see them anytime up north around Wolf & Darwin Islands, but Apr-Nov typically is your best bet with October being a very good month. This area can only be reached by liveaboard.

Look into Donsol in the Philippines too. Again not sure about the season, but I'm sure someone here will. Maybe also the Similans off the West of Thailand. If you get any photos, please send them on to this link:Ecocean

I believe that Donsol's whale shark season typically starts in Oct/Nov, although Feb- May is peak time.
