I just don't log dives
I have to admit that I thought the boat captain was full of it when he told everyone that he'd spotted a whale shark but I figured what the hay and jumped in to check it out. . .
So I waited until the captain swung the boat around and yelled jump now! Had I jumped a little further I would have landed on top of him. I have to say it was quite a shock to see a 15ft whale shark about an arms length away.
It was an amazing experience that I hope to repeat one day.
(It was also the day that I decided not to take my snorkle . . .stupid stupid stupid!
It was also the day that the deck hand decided to take my husbands mask -which in my opinion is grounds for public flogging.)
Are whale sharks known to frequent these waters?

They frequent the area around Holbox just around the corner. I guess they have to get there somehow so PDC might be the migration route?? I will be there in a couple of weeks. Hopefully I will be as lucky as you were.
