I will be scubadiving for the first time (since certification) in Belize in late December.
What's the proper exposure suit? I've been told to wear a 3mm
wetsuit.
Thanks for advice.

If you're going to be spending consecutive days diving, then a 3mm is nice. For occasional diving, you can get away with less, like a 1mm skin. I spent a week in Cozumel with a 3mm and was glad I had it. Some people wearing skins were getting chilled towards the end of the week. Water temps were 82 degrees.

I spent a week there two weeks ago and dove like a madman. I got cold by the end of the week wearing a 3mil shorty. Everybody is different though.

Take a 3mm. It'll be fine for you!! Have a blast!!

Tafflink,

Forgot to mention... I'm going to Utila next week. 10 days. I'm taking a 2mm shorty and 3mm full. Usually I use the shorty in day and 3mm at night. You'll be fine with the 3mm, again have a blast.

I'm going to Belize in July. Still the same answer? I intend to dive like for fool while I'm there, night dive or two plus maybe the blue hole. Is a 3mm full going to be comfortable for all of these types of dive?

We were there in March and needed a wetsuit. I got away the first day with a shortie but (and we were on a liveaboard) after a couple days I switched over to my 3/2 with a hooded vest underneath. Made a world of difference. Average water temps in March were 79 degrees at depth and around 84 degrees on the surface. I would imagine that it might be a tad cooler in March.

I was there in July, did 5 dives a day for 5 days. Used a 3mm shorty and 3mm full and was comfortable. Switched between the two for drying purposes. Shorty first two dives then swiched to the full. Have fun
