From what I have been reading regarding wet suit sizing, it appears that I am going to have an issue.

I'm just over 6' and I weigh in around 260-265. I have a 52-54 chest and a 38.waist. In looking at wet suit size charts, I'm between a large and a to 4-5 X.

Any suggestions short of "expensive custom wetsuit"?

(Yes, I work out and have always been larger than the average bear)

Keep trying different brands and sizes. Since you are in NJ, you could go into the city and visit the Leisurepro store. They have a great selection. I fit nowhere on the size charts, but find suits that fit. You will probably try a lot of different suits.

Size charts are more guidelines than anything. I shouldn't be able to fit into any of my gear according to the manufacturer's sizing charts.

If all else fails a good custom suit has a minor price premium to a quality off the rack suit.

I am 5'10" and 270lbs. I wear a Bare 3XL no problem.

yes, but do you have a 52" chest and 38" waist? Most of the time once you hit a XXL they give very large waists.

I'm 6'3" with similar dimensions, 52" chest, 38" waist, and surprisingly it is usually XLT that fits, so I'd start with XL and just try on a bunch of suits.

How about a drysuit? Trilams make fitting easy and you stay dry between dives. Especially living on the east coast. If you do any winter diving you will probably find that a drysuit is a good investment. I know I did out here on the west coast.

Thanks for the input guys. I might give leisure pro a shot. And apparently, a bunch of gorillas have taken up scuba diving. Good to know I'm not the only ape. :)
