I finished my OW cert last week in Puerto Vallarta and am now a certified diver. Did the course with Claus from Ocean Quest and even though he is quite the character he made all the work and diving very relaxed and fun. I had no trouble with any of the skills but the one I liked the least was putting all my gear on in the water. Its just not that much fun to have the BC inflated and then tossed into the water and told there it is go get ready to dive. Well it wasnt exactly like that but that part just wasnt much fun. PV has beautiful fish but not much coral and the vis was about 25 feet. I would think that was good or at least average for that time of year on the pacific coast of Mexico. Anyway it was a geat time and now I can dive dive dive.

Welcome to the "cult!"

Matt,

Congrats on your OW cirt.

You'll probably find over time that it's pretty easy to don/doff your gear in the water. I'm a north Coast CA diver and do it that way all the time. It's easier to setup my rig, fill the BC with air, clip it to a line and float it next to the boat (14' Merc inflatable). This gives us room to get everything else on easily. Then I jump in the water Don my BC and I"m off.
