I've been lurking but just recently got into a nice debate over in the BC section, so I figured I'd officially introduce myself

I'm Jon.. I'm more or less a newbie.. been diving for just over a year, have just over 30 logged dives and an SSI advanced learner's perm..er...card.

Anyone in the eastern NY area wants a dive buddy, call me up

:)

Welcome to the neighbour -- from a neighbour to the north.

As you've already discovered, we talk about a lot of things, and enjoy (usually) every moment.

Glad to have you aboard. I am sure you will find that even when we disagree we are all family so it usually doesn't get personal unlike on other boards. I hope you enjoy the board and share your experiences so that we can learn from you and hopefully you from us.

Dive safe....no matter what setup you use.

Chad

Welcome to ScubaBoard Jon.... and thanks for filling in the profile stuff and posting pictures....

If you lived over in the PNW I would take you out diving and let you try a bp/wing set up

Welcome to the boards from a neighbor to the west.
(I'm not sure where troy is?) My learners permit is from SSI too.

Enjoy the boards!

I like the term "Learner's Permit" for the OW. Do you think we could convince the agencies to use it?

That would be quite appreciated, I'd certainly like to try one out.. of course the real honor would be diving with someone as experienced (does that mean old?) and knowledgable as you.

Tavi, Troy is halfway between NYC and Montreal along the eastern NY border.. right next to MA :)

Remember Shane is UP's second dive buddy... his first was a loser by the name of J Cousteau or something... They had a falling out over UP calling him a stroke and all... :tease:

welcome to the board, you can sometimes get some great educational and of course opinionated debates.
