So basically iv been researching work underwater. Welding and underwater construction seem to be the most promising. Could somebody tell me where there are courses to do either of these and if you need some qualifications(like welding) other than a diving one to do so. Its very hard to get answers on the web.Any advice or help will be much appreciated!

Thank you

IMHO you should be a competent topside welder first. Most vocational schools, offer classes. Think about joining a trade union, or the military.
Learn to Rig, Signal Cranes, Burn, Weld, Fit Pipe, Arc Gouge, and Dive. Good Luck.

I'd also look into getting certified in the area of non-destructive testing (NDT). This should include an underwater magnetic particle inspection system, multiple echo ultrasonic thickness gauge and a bathycorrometer. NDT is used widely for the inspection and maintenance of many underwater structures and pipelines.

Few of my Divers did the HSE part1 from New Zealand. Maybe you need to take HSE part II for underwater welding, NDT etc. So the first step is HSE part4 then 3,1 and 2. I think if you are certified as DM, you can go directly to Part 1. Just follow the link, It might help you. Good Luck
