What a great idea. Being a typical diver I recently located this board and have been keeping myself 'submerged' and lurking below the surface just checking things out. As a 20 year Instructor who recently crossed over to SDI-ERDI (not a techie.... ) I'm very pleased to see SDI represented here.

As a Crusty ol' salt (yes, I still teach my students tables) I was a little apprehensive about the online course but after seeing it used by my daughter and quizzing my students about classroom material during pool sessions, I must say it is top rate. I am really impressed, so top marks to you and the crew, Steve.

Two points however, I did have a question about the online certs that I forwarded through the member services to SDI HQ and got not reply. Would it be appropriate to pm you here and ask?
Also the Instructor thread has a closed off forum for Instructors only.., any thought given to seeing if the moderators would set something up here for SDI/TDI/ERDI leadership members. It could be promoted on the SDI site.., as a place for SDI Instructors to get together to discuss various in-house items in relation to our (your) cert agency? I say that because reading some posts on this board we seem to get beat up but some posters and it'd be nice to talk, discuss or ask questions without those uninvolved putting their $0.02 worth

Anyway.., just a thought while drinking high octane coffee on a chilly day. Nice to see SDI with a voice here Steve

Not much time for the dive forums these days but, I'm glad I stumbled across this addition. Thanks to both of you for your personal time and availability to the forum's divers. It is a nice touch and speaks volumes to your dedication to the sport.

Thanks for making yourelf available to the forum members at Scubaboard. About 10 weeks ago about 5 of my state PSD Underwater Criminal Investigations Unit members took another SDI course about 10 weeks ago for tank inspections offered by your agency. This was taken through our LDS. Prior to that we had been certified by PSI. So far we have not received our certifiations despite frequent inquiries through the LDS that offered the course.

Is this normal? It appears that our paperwork may have been lost in the mail ? Hopefully we can get this matter resolved quickly as we will not put a sticker on a tank if we are not certified.

Hi Jim... good to see PSD members here on the forum.

Short answer to your question is No, that is not normal. We pride ourselves on being able to turn around associate level cards within 24 hours. If your LDS sent via mail and it's been lost we obviously have no records at HQ. The alternatives for the LDS are to register your cards online... that's immediate. Contact me with details or have your LDS do so and I'll make sure this is sorted.
