Anyone out there using the Mares Vector Platinum MRS BC?

The BC description suggests that weights are sold separately as an option. Are these expensive?

Can the MRS accomodate regular lead or buck shot weights? Please let me know.

Thanks.

Uh...Thanks. I'm suprised you were able to find such an old post.

I ended up getting a SeaQuest ProQD+.

Actually, I went to a local dive shop to try on the Mares BC shorty after I posted my original inquiry. I really didn't like the MRS, so I went with ProQD+ instead.

And after using the IW pockets on the ProQD+ for sometime now, I'm probably going to go back to using a regular weight belt (plus some trim weight).

u didnt like the MRS !!!!
may i know why please ,,, i have done over 400 dives with them
its the best

thanks

Let me make sure that we're on the same page.

"MRS" is Mares' integrated weight pocket that has the
mechanical locking mechanism thingy inside the pocket
instead of the velcro, right?

1. I'm suprised that you've logged over 400 dives, since
the MRS came out. I thought The MRS has only been out
less than 2 years? Do you instruct or DM full time?
(I'm jealous... I'm lucky to get 50 dives in a year).

2. You did not mention, where (or in what types of conditions)
you dive...

But, I dive in the temperate waters of SoCal, which
means 7mm wetsuit...20lbs of lead...8lbs x 2 in the weight
pockets (or belt) + 4 lbs of trim weights.

I do a lot of beach diving (over half my dives are beach
dives), and when I do, I prefer to don my BC by lifting the
tank over my head. So, it's a lot easier to put on the BC
without the weights in them.

I found the locking mechanism on the MRS too troublesome
to lock, when I tried putting in a 8 lbs weight pocket into the
BC while I was wearing the BC.

But, if it works for you... good for you.

Hello
I have had this system (MRS) for more than one and half year now

I¡¦m a NAUI Dive Master
And most of my dives are less than 45 feet (open water stuidents
)
3 dives a day mostly and 3 times a week

And you do the math

I¡¦m in Kuwait

We start diving from April to November „² .5 MM suit (6Kg)
And I do dive in the winter some times „² 3.0MM Suit (8Kg)

By the way where are you from
