I am getting ready to hop in salt water for the first time. I generally wear a 5mm neoprene wetsuit, 6lb. SS bp/wing/STA, alum80 tank, and 3mm vest with 5mm hood. I do not wear any extra weight on a belt with this setup.

How much extra weight should I carry? I have 2 2 lb. hard weights I was planning on starting with.

Next question, if I ditch the vest, any idea on weighting?

I know the answer is probably get in there and see, but just looking for any info up front I can get.

I am in the process of getting a balanced rig which obviously I would have to get an aluminum plate and wear the difference on a belt.

I can hang at 10' with 400psi/alum80 with no problem, have not tried swimming it up from depth.

If you can hang in fresh water at 10' with 400 psi in your tank rigged as described, to take the same rig into salt water, add about 3 percent of your body weight.
