Does anyone know a quick reference for how much weight to subtract when using a thinner wetsuit? I am planning to dive Bonne Terre Mine next weekend (April 1 & 2 anyone want to come?) and I normally dive an Aquaflite 7mm full suit with a 7mm shorty (they call it a jacket) over the top when diving the local quarries (45 deg temps). Bonne Terre is supposed to be around 58 deg and I don't think I will use my jacket, just a hood. If I remove the extra 7mm how much weight can I leave behind. It takes about 35lbs with both layers on. I weigh 270 and am 6' tall.

Thanks,
Bob J
Until i got my drysuit, I dove with a 3mil shorty under my one piece 7mil wetsuit, top this off with a 3mil hood under a 5mil hood (yes 2-hoods) I was just about warm enough in 45 degree water. Brr!! if it's just the jacket you might lose 5lbs, but I think 10lbs would be too much!!! I like my drysuit! :loki3:

Thanks Hecker the Wrecker,

Thats about what I figured. I don't want to hold up progress at the start of the dive at Bonne Terre. I guess they are rather unforgiving of gear problems, especially if you don't rent their ?@#$%^ gear. I searched Bonne Terre and came up with some rather disheartening results about the operators there.

Thanks again,
Bob J
