I need your advice with rigging a weight system . My friend and I will be using 7 mm suits . I use half the weight as him and have more experience. I can dive with no weight belt but need help with him . I figure to split his weight with 12 pounds fixed on backplate but where should I put the other 12 pounds . The waist is being used with the BC strap so weight belt option is not looking good . I was thinking of making a half weight belt above the waist fixed to backplate. Slide the weights through the open half and feed through buckle and other half of belt .The weights could be ditched and belt would remain. The idea may not fly with your reply .

Don't most divers (including me) manage to fit a weight belt and a BC strap on their waists? I don't see the problem.

Halcyon makes Trim Weight pockets that attach to a cam strap. These are really nice because they have an actual clip oppose to just Velcro.

Are you using a steel tank? That would be some weight there plus larger volume which also equals more bottom time. It sounds like you are using a BP & Harness. If this is the case, Halcyon also makes nice weight pockets that actually lock in on the waist strap. Very nice system that won't shift on you.

Those are just a couple of clean, reliable options, let me know if you want more!!
