Personally I've been just using 2 and 6 lb soft weights for a couple of years and never lost one yet. The Concept has smaller pockets than the Ranger. So I was never really able to use the pouches, though I do have some around some where.

The most I have ever been able to get in the concept II using soft weights was 12 pounds each side, and then a couple in each back pocket. But I've found I can use less weight even in my dry suit so I don't need to worry about it any more.

If I'm working with students, I clip on a few two pound weights on to D rings to give if I need to. That way I don't need to carry more weight than I need.
