I ordered a suit from Softwear due to the suggestions on this board.

I have very little body fat, and was fairly cold in Monterey with 7mm wet suit. Since I'm moving up to a dry suit, I ordered a 300g two-piece suit. I also ordered a vest, but I'm not certain what weight I should order (100g-300g).

Would another 300g be too toasty combined with the 300g suit?

Suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

I dive Monterey with a single-piece 300 weight garment from softwear and am quite comfortable in my trilam DUI TLS350.

I also have very little body fat.
With a DUI 300g and wet gloves, I get pretty cold.
Thus I started wearing a expedition weight base layer shirt which improved things somewhat. Then I started diving drygloves, which made things even better.

But I am still thinking about getting a vest to be warmer.

My advice is to get the 300g. Since it's a vest, it wont' restrict your mobility, and you won't ever be 'too warm' in 50F water unless you do something extreme.

What's your weight and what kind of suit did you buy?

You're right, I never heard of a diver being too warm except topside.

I'm 5'9" and 130#.

Being that your a lean I would say get the warmer vest. Were you apposed to jump suits? I would have recomended the Weezle Undergarments for you.

I dive with this http://www.dui-online.com/newsite/dw_polar.htm in Monterey with a FLX 50/50 and have been quite warm. No worries.
