I was just wondering if anyone had one of those weight molds that you can use to make your own hard weights. After jumping the gun and buying a weight integrated BC and soft weight, then switching over to a bp/w and weight belt, I'd like to be able to re-use the lead that I have by melting it down and making my own weights.

So I was just wondering if anyone had one of those weight molds that I could borrow for a day or two. Please let me know if this might be possible. Thanks!

Nicole

Yeah, I've seen those....but I kind of figure the reason (well, one of them...) I went to the bp/w set-up was to reduce drag as much as possible, and adding those weight pockets will just introduce more drag, albeit not as much as a traditional BC. It's still an option, but I feel like a simple weight belt with hard weights pulled in close to my body will be the easiest/simplest option.

Well, not really. These are on your belt as well. No difference between a hard weight on your belt and a weight pouch on your belt.

Soft weights can be expensive. You might be able to sell the soft weights to someone who wants them and just buy hard weights and come out ahead.

I would look into the Henderson neoprene weight belt, it holds soft weight next to your body and is very comfortable. If you go with hard weights you will find theyn tend to rub on your hips and are not comfortable most of the time. With the henderson WB it is soft and molds to your hips. If I went back to my weight belt I would use my Henderson above anythng else. Just my opinion. :cool2:

I have a set of dive rite pouches you can test drive.

Nicole, I use the Scubapro pocket weight belt and use soft weights. It works out really well and is perfect for travel as many resorts have a mix of soft and hard weights.

ScubaPro Pocket Weight Belt.

I already have a weight belt for hard weights....and that's why I was looking for the weight mold. I don't need that much weight as the majority of it is on my back (backplate and weight plates) and I've got a 7mm wetsuit, so I'm not terribly worried about it digging into my hips or anything.

I suppose I'll keep my eye out for weight molds. Thanks to everyone who responded.
