Does anyone here prefer a weight-integrated BCD over a normal weight belt or vice versa? Why? I'm a bit unclear about the advantages and disadvantages of them.

I prefer a weight belt.

I don't dive a drysuit so I use only a couple 2's or 3's depending on if I wear a 3 mil or a 5mil. I prefer having my center of gravity tight in one place and to not shift. Plus, I hate handling soggy weight pouches. I find a belt easy to sling over my shoulder when I carry gear. I don't like the way tanks fall over and are hard to handle on the boat loaded with assortments of weights here and there. Dropping them at the surface is more straightforward (for me).

JB loves his Zeagle. Personal preference. Remember, if you like an integrated style bc, you can always still use a weight belt.

I have integrated weights ....

 Hate that belt that keeps getting loose and goes down to my knees !!!!

OK maybe not that worst, but the weight belt kept shiifting and I find weight distribution is much beter, specially with rear pockets. Isn't that called trimming ??

I personally don't like the weight belt, weight integrated BC is much better IMHO.:D

IMO it's simple.

If you are diving wet with minimal neoprene do what you want.

If you are dry or have 5+mm coveing your body you want to have ost of your weight on your person in case you need to get out of your rig at depth.

If you don't have hips or your drysuit bulk makes a belt insecure then get a weight harness like a DUI weight & trim II.

Aye. Imagine someone hanging onto their rig to keep from shooting up. Funny mental picture, serious situation.

My experience with the Weight & Trim II is that it is cumbersome under a BCD. (I had a Zeagle Ranger.) However, it does work well with a BP/W. Though with the SS BP, I don't need much weight so I'm back to the belt. It seems like a great idea...just didn't work for me. (So, I have one available...)

I personally am a fan of having weights in more than 1 place. Like half in an intregated and half on a weight belt. So, if I have to ditch one im not ditching all of my weight at once and thus sky rocketing toward the surface. Hopefully with just half dropped I can somewhat control my "controlled accent".

Stainless steel backplate + steel single tank adapter + steel tank = no extra weights!
