I am a new diver and a big guy. I had trouble with my weight belt slipping down. After practicing with a harness system I am looking into buying one. I found a weight belt and a separate harness. The harness has quick release buckles on each front strap. My question(finally) is with these straps under my BC how do I use the quick release? Each pocket on the belt is velcro but to dump I would have to wear it upside down or pull each weight out.

:D Thrilled to be diving!!!

I'm familiar with the harness you're speaking of; I think Trident sells it.

I'm also a big guy - at least around the waist!. I tried the Trident belt, didn't like it, and went instead to a DUI Weight&Trim Harness II. Pull ring, ditchable weight; holds I think up to 20#s on each side; adjustable length; very confortable, so much so I sometimes forget to take it off. I carry about 20#s. I dive dry.

Deffinently go with the DUI harness. I have been diving it for a couple of years now and it is the most comfortable waight system ever. Also ditching the weights could not be more simple. The Trident system is too combersom to use and the webing tends to dig into your sholders making it worse than a weight belt.

Another vote for the W&T II:
My wife got hers about a year ago when she swore off weight belts after losing one during a training dive. I got one so we could have common equipment, and I don't miss belts one bit. We even wear them in the Caribbean over a skin or swimsuits. The only thing is that it seems to take a bit longer to re-install after ditching than integrated weights (I don't have a weight-integrated BC, so I wouldn't know for sure).
