Diving in the Carribean,I like to have my weighting at my stomach. If you choose to use the trim pockets in your W.I. BC,What exactly is the purpose of the trim pockets on either side orf the tank mounting?? This will be my first diving without relying on a weight belt. Wouldn't this positioning of weight tend to pull the diver over on his back?

it al depends on how much weight you need on a dive ?
if you needed 8lb then i would you 4x 2lbs 2 front 2 back if you needed to dump weight then your going up!!! but if you have 2 in the back then you still going up then your still going up but under more control! its also better weight distribution imho

The trim pockets move the weight up the torso nearer to my neck to prevent my legs from sinking too much. They are mounted as near to the BCD as possible.

the BCD's with trim pockets generally are there to work in conjunction with the Air cell design and shape generally to back inflation to stop to the unit from pushing you more forward it allows more ajustments
6lbs correctly placed can do what 10lbs in the wrong place do just by positioning them correctly youl find you can loose weight much easier

Diving in the Caribbean I do a 60/40 front/back split. It keeps me more horizontal most of the dive and more vertical at the surface using a back-inflate wing. Also it's easy to lean back if I want to for a minute or to kick out on the surface. Optimally 70/30 works better for me but I can't always get the smaller weights needed.
