I am considering trying out a rash guard instead of a 3mm shorty.
Currently I use a 1kg weight attached to my tank strap. (I dive with the back plate and wing system with a SS plate). Would there be any change of my weight requirement when I switch to the rash guard? Would I need no extra weight at all?
All my dives are in tropical salt water, temperatures around 30 C.

I add about 2 pounds or 1kg going from rash vest to 3mm shorty, if you are using 1kg for the shorty then you should be able to remove it for the rash vest.

i would leave it on, worst case you are 1kg over weight, no big deal. Then after a couple of dives you will know whether to remove it.

Diving with 3mm I use 2kg weight, when in rash vest and shorts, none. (Have to add it's with 15l steel or AL100 cylinder single)

I used 10-12 pounds in Panama in the body suit (I only dived once tropical, so guess that's what they call a rash guard) and use 18 with the shorty. Do a weight check. Sorry for the non-metric.

For those water temps, you could also consider a neutrally buoyant suit like a sharkskin or 4th element thermocline, they don't require extra weight.
