Just saw this thread....I've lost 35 lbs. since Nov. 1 Got about 10 more to go. I capped out at 214 back in Oct.

saf_25,

In WeightWatchers, the first goal you have is "10%". Shoot for losing 10% of your starting weight. I had about 50 to lose about 2.5 years ago, but only lost about 10 before starting WW (with my wife, too). I've lost 30+ on WW.

Another thing is DRINKING ENOUGH WATER. It's almost impossible to drink too much. Your body needs water to metabolize stored fat -- not enough water and you don't burn fat and need to get energy from food.

Keep with it and don't look at the scale except for weigh-ins. Focus on feeling good (and drinking water).

Well, this challenge has not helped me as much as I had thought it would. I'm still right where I was when we started (has it already been 8 weeks? Wow!). I got sick about 3 weeks ago, and so started sleeping in to recouperate instead of getting up and walking/jogging before work, which helped a lot for me to keep my weight down. Now that I'm recovered from the sinus infection, I can't seem to find my motivation to exercise in the mornings again.
At least I haven't gained any weight, but I feel it's only a matter of time if I can't get back on a stronger exercise regime... Ideally, I could stand to lose 50 lbs., but my goal for the time being is 20. But, with the way I've been going lately, it's just not happening any time soon.
Any suggestions?

I can't believe it has been 8 weeks already! I am not doing as well either. This week I am up 0.8lbs. That means in the 8 weeks I am down 3.4lbs total. Actually, I think that we are in the beginning of week 8, am I correct? So, then next week is the end of this Challenge?? :(

I hope that we are going to start a new 8 weeks going. This has helped me more than not help. I know that I am losing slowly and even have set backs, but I am down and that is what counts.

I am really wanting to get to my goal weight, which if I could be there by July 16th when I leave to go to Roatan that would be the ultimate awesome thing for me. Let me see that means I would have to lose 17 more pounds in 8 weeks, Yikes! At the rate I am losing now that won't be happening.

Guess I need to step up the old exercise program and get moving a bit more. I am also, going to have to be more delingent in keeping my food diary up. I think that is bad area for me.

Well, as for today I did go on a 2 mile walk at 6 am and I have kept up my food diary. I have 6 points left for dinner and the evening. Guess I will be eating very carefully tonight.

Thanks for the feedback. I don't think water is the problem, though - I learned that one early on, and drink an average of 80 oz of water while I'm at work (I do at least another 35 after that at home) so I definitely get enough water. I think that the biggest problem is that I get bored at work (when not on Scubaboard) so I sit in front of my computer and mindlessly eat all day (there's also a ton of stuff lying around my office which doesn't help - my coworkers always have donuts, chips, tostada shells, and peanuts, plus whatever seasonal candy is in sitting out and very easy to access). I've been trying to pay much more attention to when and what I'm putting in my mouth and stopping that habit.
I've also decided to join weight watchers for a little bit more structure - I'm going to my first meeting tonight. ALthough I've done it before and burnt out on it, I'm finally motivated enough to give it another try. Hopefully next week I'll have more positive news to report.
Thanks for the support!

Gotta mark me down as even! Oh well I had a big family get together this weekend, so I consider myself lucky at that.

At work we are not allowed to eat at our desks. So the only time I can grab a snack is if I take a break. Works wonders!
At home, I try not to eat at the computer, instead, only eat in one place, in my case the kitchen table.

Even this week. Indulged in a night of dining out with my wife for the first time in..er.. months....... since February. :D Well, that and I did hit the weights a LOT more than cardio this week even though I do maintain a pretty heavy cardio rate while working the weights. Maintained my target max's in every catagory as well :D

This week though, its all manual labor around de casa. Have a flood drain to unclocg, serious weeding to do around the exterior of the condo fence, possible slat replacement on the fence, and the removal of the paint from one of my ugly tanks. :D mixing the workout up!!

Saf...try taking snacks to work with you that are OK. Like carrots? Buy some of those baby carrots, broccoli, etc. and take some FF ranch dressing to dip them in. What about chewing gum? That helps control my munchies when I get them.

Change your environment. Ok...at work that can be hard but try re-arranging your desk. Looking at even small changes will take you out of the old comfort place where you always nibbled.

Jenny's idea of only eating at a specified place helps too.

WW today is very different than it used to be. It's more about portion control than food control. You can still eat most anything, just limit the amounts to staywithin your points. If you need help with WW, PM me. It can be overwhelming at first but it doesn't have to be hard.

No change for me again. With the Buffett concert and an evening of free Tequilla I am way surprised!

Joe

Thanks Dee, and everyone, for the advice.
Yeah, WW wasn't too bad last night (after the weigh in, at least). I actually had fun going through the grocery store after the meeting trying to find the foods with lower points, to get the most "bang for my buck". I've been paying attention for the last week or so to when I'm really eating the most, and it's definitely the work munchies that are killing me. Jenny's "no food at the computer" thing is a good idea, I'll have to try something like that here. It's pretty flexible here, so I could move to the outer office to eat. I did start bringing some pickles and cucumber slices to work today, and kept those within reach, so that when I find my mindless munching at least it's on stuff that I should be munching on.
Thanks for the support! hopefully next week's results will be better...
