not really sure if this is a pipefish or if it's something else, I'm not really very good at identifying underwater creatures yet. Took it while snorkeling in the virgin Islands.

Looks like a Trumpetfish or Coronetfish. I've always wondered why those two were named after musical horns!

Heres a couple of pipefish from Guam. The first is a scribbled pipefish, and the second is a Ghost pipefish

No, actually these guys don't hide. You can find them out on top of the sand and rocks. This one is just caught as it was moving from behind a small sand mound giving it the illusion that his head is sticking out of the sand.
