I don't know about the 'deal' part, but that website has some serious issues. Perhaps instead of enlisting the help of his 13 year old kid to design it, he should maybe hire a professional - or at the very least utilize the many tutorials on website design available on the internet. It's free. :)

Having a poorly designed website is a MAJOR turn off for me. I didn't even want to continue looking through his catalogue of gear he had for sale. It made my eyes bleed.

The main thing that caught my attention right off the bat (aside from his ice-pick in the eye sales splash) is the use of frames. Ick.

If this guy allows content like this to be displayed on the web, what does that say for his business practices in general? Sloppy to say the least.

Back to the 'deals' for a moment. It might be a good idea to actually tell us what kind of BCD that is, instead of him placing 'Major Manufacturer' as a label. Or is it, the manufacturer doesn't allow online sales from anyone but themselves and he'll tell you what it is after you inquire in person?

Shady sales practices reflect badly on the owners of shops when it is so blatant. Then again... this may be legit and the guy sells GENERIC Brand-X BCD's. :14:

The BC does NOT look like one by a major manufacturer. Then again, if you look at the gears they sell, it's mainly Genesis. Now if I see some other brands like Mares, Scubapro, Aqualung, or Sherwood BESIDES Genesis, then it's acceptable. But Having only Genesis on display really doesn't say much regarding the quality and the faith given by manufacturer to the shop.
Not to mention their calender doesn't work and some of their pictures are shown as a white box with a red x on it.

Perhaps they are keeping the costs down by using their 13 year old kid to design the website. I think my gran could have done better:D

It's hard to tell if anything is a good deal when not much in way of pricing is offered. Not to mention the broken links, typographical and grammatical errors don't help much. That should probably tell you something.

I understand all of your comments and they are definately appreciated. I guess what I am getting at is that I am just learning about all of this. On his sub pages it appears to me that he lists brands and prices, but maybe I am so new that I dont eally know what I am looking at. Basically I am interested in finding a reputable and fair priced place to buy my starting equipment as well as future equipment.

The "scuba packages" just seem like a good deal for a beginner. But maybe it is too good of a deal. I just dont know.

I guess I just need someone to direct me to a decent place to purchase my equipment. Whether it be online or otherwise. Thank you all for your time.

There is a sponsored ad on this board some people purchase gear from. Look top.

Looks a little shady, to me. Don't think i am going to buy from there.
