Hey scuba lovers! I'm planning to take my family somewhere warm where we don't need passports (my daughter's expired) during the last week of July/beginning of August 2005. Thinking about Cancun/Riviera Maya cause there's more to do topside and my hubbie and I can sneak over to Cozumel to dive. Anyone been there in the hot summer months? Does it look like hurricane weather is gonna make it too rainy and humid to have fun? Let me know what you think or what your experiences have been there or anywhere fun and tropical in the summer. Thanks!

Hot and Humid always during the summer months. Afternoon rain showers. Lots of bugs bring on the heavy duty outdoors bug sprays, some spray cans are not allowed, so a good lotion is advised, or pump sprays. Huricanne season is through Nov. always a slight chance, but, I know all this and still go once or twice a year. Passports are required after 1 Jan 06, best to renew before you go. Some service for renewals as little as 2 weeks. Check it out. Have fun.

I spent August 2004 in/around Akumal. It is definitely HOT & HUMID. The bugs were not so bad, and we got lucky with the hurricanes (my home in FL not so lucky!) It is nice to escape to an air conditioned room/villa in late afternoon, and the breeziness of Feb/March is missed, but all in all not too bad.

The big difference (to me) is that the town/cities seemed so much hotter than when I go there in the winter. It was much cooler in the jungle around the cenotes!

Just got back from Playa Del Carmen. We had one afternoon/evening and the entire next day of rain which was heavy at times. The other 5 days were nice and sunny (hot and humid). It's hit or miss this time of year.
