Just finalising details and booking flight for our next Visit to sunny Sharm at the beggining of February

I've not been to Sharm this early in the season before so wouldn't mind any info for Surface and at depth (18M) water temps form dives at this time of year. I know what the websites say, but looking for the real experiences at this time of year from anyone that has records of dives.
Also any info with regards to wind and wave situations or just general comments to help us plan for our visit would be great

Looking on DiveBunny's Forum, temps are reported as lower this year, so would be great to know if this is a one off or if the water temps are generally lower for whatever reason at present.

Thanks
Mat D

Hey Mat,

Have mailed you directly but for the benefit of other SBers - and to continue some discussion in a quiet form these days...!

It's going to be cold - it's already hit 22 in Na'ama Bay and this was the lowest temperature of the year this year, so we're expecting it to drop further, possibly lower than 20 degrees in February, which is always the coldest winter month in terms of water temperature.

Wind and waves - yes - there will be wind and waves! Fleeces, long trousers, woolly hats and socks will prove useful if you're out on the boats, and it will also be quite chilly at night, although coming over from the UK you might be a bit more immune to the cold than us hardened sun-junkies! :D

On the plus side, the Sakara is guaranteed to be cold!

Cheers

C.

Thanks Crowley for the info,

Was also wondering since the water temps would be lower, does that also change what we can expect from the wildlife.
Are the Big fish gone? so there are lots of small fish out to play?
Or
All the big fish are out, so little ones are running for thier lives
Or
Cold temps = lots of Nudibranches and all the anemone's have hidden because they only like it warm

I have no idea.. sorry just getting excited about coming back .. :D
