Captain Caleb Batson out of Carolina Beach lost his life to diving last week. He was commercial spearing at the time and the accident happened at the end of his 3rd deep dive. Caleb was 31, a well respected Captain and accomplished waterman. Details of the accident have been kept pretty quiet, and out of respect to the family I will not share. His gear has not been recovered and I don't think we will ever know the true cause of the accident.

It is always devastating when a diver perishes, even worse when an experienced diver and Captain falls victim. Rest in Peace Captain Batson. We will miss you out there.
