I used to clip my computer to my BCD using a retractor, but I always found it annoying because the retractor wire would get caught on stuff and I generally found it clumsy. Recently my retractor broke and I'm looking for something better to replace it with. Does anyone have any suggestions? I've considered using the plastic clips with a plastic coiled wire (like what is used for lights sometimes) but it doesn't seem any better to me.

Bungie.

Wear your computer on your right forearm. That way you can read it easily, and it is always there in plain sight. And if you scooter with a DPV, you will then already be doing this right, since you hold a DPV with your right hand, and your right forearm is right before your face then, at all times.

I always recommend the forearm, but if the computer is air integrated then I find one good solution is to tie a bungee to the top of the computer with the other end hitched to a bolt snap. Clip the bolt snap across your chest to the opposite shoulder D-Ring. Then the computer is easily visible with not much more than a glance down, and it is tidy and streamlined.

One thing I also like to do with any attachment point is to add an o-ring folded in half to make a kind of double U. This provides a 'fuse' or breakable link so that if whatever is attached via the o-ring gets snagged, it can ultimately break away.

Something like this with a barrel lock:

You can get it at Scubatoys.com.

I run mine under my left arm, below the shoulder strap. When I am not looking at it I push it back so that it is not dangling.
