Tried swimming 45 minutes offshore in search of adventure. Did not find the reef but found some other interesting critters. Hit 75 feet deep and found forty Pleurobranchea californica. Many were mating and several laying eggs.

Just a quick update to this thread....we dived the Yukon yesterday and in the sand under the bow, there are HUNDREDS of mating pleurobranchia!! Really very cool to see.

Craig Hoover, do you mean "County Line" as in LA/Ventura county line? Bomboras is a great spot. Next time, start where the condos meet the beach (southern side of county line), head 207 degrees for about a half a mile and there you go. Cool pile of rocks. Its a long swim so bring doubles. I have seen many interesting things there. In the winter on really big days it is ride able if you surf.

So, it appears I can not edit my post. Oops

You say you made it to 75 feet? Bomboras is around 40, you must be talking about something else. Sorry. To get to 75 off County line you had to be way out there! Were you searching off the point? North of the break?

Yeah, it goes by many names. Some call it Harrison's though I haven't yet heard why. Those bold enough to do it from shore may call it Neptune's. Probably because we need the sea god's permission to get there and back safely. I always make sure to ask for safe passage as my feet touch the water.

I haven't heard the name Bomboras yet. I am carrying 130 and the leap to 150 for doubles is starting to look within reach.
