Water Temp at 40 fathom grotto

Anyone know what the temp is there this time of year?

I cannot state for sure, but I have heard it is 72F. When might you be going? I've never dove there myself.

I'm going on Wednesday. I was hoping to get my drysuit in enough time to use it here, but as it ends up I'm going wet.

If you aren't going deep you should be fine diving wet. There's not much light at 40 Fathom and there is a layer of duckweed on top that also blocks the light so not much warming takes place.

I dived there in the late 90's in a 7mm jacket and jane and was fine in the shallower depths....when I did my deep dive to 170 it was a bit chilly.

The website says

Water temperature varies, but averages about 68 degrees F, which suggests a 1/4 inch wetsuit or a drysuit. Both are available at our fully stocked full service dive store.

Depends on what you call deep. We're headed to 130. I called and spoke with Hal last night and he said we can expect 66 degrees with a whopping 5' vis.
