Florida Studies at USF St. Petersburg presents:

Water in Florida: Environmental Humanities Meet Public Policy

Free public forum at Harbor Hall

RSVP requested

6:30 pm on Friday, March 30, 2012

Reception to follow

The genesis of this forum comes from prominent thinkers, policymakers, and artists who share a desire to take a new approach to addressing water issues in Florida. It aims to merge scientific understanding with environmental humanities perspectives and, importantly, citizen engagement, in order to craft and implement better public policy.

Moderated by Florida Studies Program Director Chris Meindl, attendees will have the opportunity to discuss water issues with former Governor Bob Martinez, nature photographer John Moran, writers Cynthia Barnett and Bill Belleville, historians Jack E. Davis and Steven Noll, author and former administrator of state water policy Tom Swihart, artist and author Margaret Ross Tolbert, and St. Petersburg Poet Laureate Peter Meinke.

A reception follows the forum, during which attendees can mingle with speakers and Florida Studies Program community in a collegial setting. The location is Harbor Hall (1000 Third Street South), former site of the Dalí Museum, now part of USF St. Petersburg's beautiful downtown campus at the edge of Bayboro Harbor.

The forum and reception are free, but we request that attendees RSVP because of space limitations. RSVP at Water in Florida:, where more details about the program and speakers are provided. For further information, please call (727) 873-4872.
