No No No, you don't use a lit cigarette as that never works. A lit firecracker does the trick every time. When it goes off it blows all the wax out the other side.......... Should only be tried by trained professionals

My son gets ear infections and has a bit of scar tissue in his ears from when he had tubes years back. We just did a bunch of diving and he came down with a inner and outer ear infection. The doctor told me after we are done swimming/diving I should put a few drops of a 1/3 vinegar, 1/2 isopropyl alcohol, and 1/3 water in his ears to help prevent the infections and keep his ears clean.

"NEVER PUT ANYTHING smaller than your elbow in your ear"...the solutions are all a good plan but if you have impacted wax of any good size they might not work and could make things worse. Have your ears checked by you doctor at an annual physical or if you think you're in for a potential problem.
My Doc is a serious diver and they have a lighted loupe that gets the job done in a very short time...good to go for another year...

I"ve always had that problem, until I started using vented ear plugs. I'll go down to 110 feet and not have any problem.
