Does anyone know of a way to keep water drops off the lense when taking above/below shots??

I have heard lemon juice works good, however, I dont happen to always have a lemon when I am out for a dive.

Will using rain x or something of that nature cause any issues with clarity??

Rain-X is a bad idea as it will etch your port. Even Rain-X said so. There's a quote from one of their customer service people either here or on WetPixel about it.

Dip and shoot seems to work pretty well.

Set up your shot, dip the camera back in the water and as you raise it be ready to shoot. It's the fiddling around once the camera is out of the water that seems to make those droplets a problem. This isn't highly technical but it works for me mostly. If you want, I'll see if I can dig up some very uninspiring shots as it isn't something I do very often LOL

Wonder if something like this would work:

Claims its safe for plexiglas - is that the same as acrylic? I'm pretty sure it is (per Wikipedia).

Also found a site that said Rain-X "Marine Formula" is safe for plexi boat windshields. But can't find it on www.rainx.com

And this one also came up in a search of marine and aircraft windshield cleaners:

I have not tried any of the above personally - just an avid curious websearcher. :)

you can just fork over the cash and get a 9 inch glass dome port:D or you could try a light soapy solution should break the surface tension of the water. i agree with alcina; that is the best way to do it as far as i am concerned just dunk and shoot.

Thanks Guys, I have done the dunk and shoot method before; it seems really strange that with all the pro's out there, that there isn't something on the market to help in this.... maybe a million dollar idea??

Baby shampoo or spit works for me if I use anything at all.

This stuff was posted on wetpixel once upon a time.
